Yesterday’s gymn quite nice, Marcsi came too. Must have my lack looked to at last now that I have a rival at gymn. I have still a pian in it every time I try to lean backwards. Too bad. Was at the Society for Foreign Affairs this evening. The lecture itself wasn’t very exciting but the two others very good. Heared from the chairman that the new Pope, Pius XII. in person of Maria Eugene Pacelli has been elected. There was quite an enthusiastic applaud at this news. This election seemed to be a very rapid one. Some might have been a bit surprised, many expected some unknown person, but this is all for the best. He is a man who knows the world, travelled a lot and who is very well known too. Is not only an ascetic but a very strong personality. Little we thought at time of the Eucharistic Congress that in the Legate we were seeing our future Pope. I’m so happy. It is all for the best.
