I don’t understand my people the least. Don’t know how Mother is or what exactly is the matter with her. They tell me nothing. It really is maddening. It sems either nothing serious is the matter with her or something too bad for effective help. Seem my three months holiday abroad is definitely off. Last evening spoke with Martha on the ‘phone she was quite shocked to hear I wanted to leave the country. She is a pessimist so can’t be relied on, so are Gizi + co. They say however, that circumstances are far far worse than we imagine. There are heaps + heaps of wounded soldiers both here + in Szombathely and they don’t know where they are transported from as usually they are brought in at nights. Poor boys. As they say there are serious fights with the Roumaninans too. I suppose up in the north at the SubCarpathian border. Well, anyway, I can’t follow my plans of Switzerland. Such a pity. –
